Basilique de Notre-Dame, Montreal - February 1999
Not just one of the highlights of Montreal, or of Quebec, or Canada - this church is a gem in the Western world, period. Sun-duk had never seen anything like it inside, not even in Chicago. I've been to many, many cathedrals in Europe, and our Notre-Dame ranks right up there with the best.
It was built over a period of some 200 years, and its interior is reminiscent of the private church at Versailles, if you've ever seen that. We'll try to find some proper pictures; visitors, you may have guessed, are not allowed to take any.
